Release Notes

v0.3.2.12 - July 1, 2011

A Heavy school load made it difficult to get much done on the game this month. What July does bring is some fixes and the removal of the "NOT A STABLE RELEASE" stamp. We simply hid the multiplayer feature which was the only thing making the game unstable. If you really want, you will be able to re-enable it using F2 + N, but you will be in funny territory if you do.

As for fixes, you should now be able to save your cities while on a non-admin account. This is mainly because we've moved our default save location to "My Documents/Synekism/Saves" instead of the root folder in Program Files. Our installer will copy your current saves to My Documents automatically so you should not notice any change. Furthermore, for those having problems with crashes, we did not fix them but the game should now handle them in a more respectable fashion and let you know what actually went wrong. If you get a chance, please try the game again and let us know which error you get so we can narrow it down.

That's it. Next release will probably be similar in size to this one but September, also our 1 year anniversary, should have a larger impact.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • Hard drive with at least 50 MB of available space*
  • Support for DirectX 9.0c, Shader Model 2 and 128 MB of graphics memory

* Does not include space requirements of DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable which may be anywhere from 20kb to 500 MB depending on what has already been installed.

What we install:

  • Synekism v0.3.2.12
  • DirectX Redistributable
  • Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable
  • GPU-Z.0.5.4.exe (to check DirectX support - removed after installation is finished/aborted)

NEW FEATURES:

Minor:

  • saved cities now moved to your "My Documents" folder under Synekism
  • multiplayer feature hidden but can be re-enabled (at own risk) using F2 + N
  • the game should no longer crash when it has issues but should display a nice, descriptive, error message and then quit
  • the uninstaller should now properly remove the Synekism folder in the Start Menu

BUGS FIXED:

  • saving now works on non-admin Vista/7 user accounts
  • saving now works whether or not you have the appropriate folders in place (so it will create them automatically)

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • zoning along more than one, non-aligned, road segment does not work
  • zoning very sharp-angled lots can cause them to overlap the road
  • if the angle lock option is on you cannot create regional roads
  • any DirectX problems will cause the game to give a fatal error and quit (mostly during loading)
