Release Notes

v0.1.2.14 - November 1, 2010

This is November's monthly update. This time the Simulator gets some updates in addition to more bug fixes and progress towards Windows XP.

We apologize for the steep graphical requirements. This will be addressed in version 0.2 where DirectX 9.0c and Windows XP support will be added, with Linux and Mac OS X support to come later.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Windows Vista or Windows 7
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • Hard drive with at least 7.50 MB of available space*
  • Support for DirectX 10.0, Shader Model 4 and 256 MB of graphics memory

* Does not include space requirements of DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable which may be anywhere from 20kb to 100.0 MB depending on what has been already installed.

What we install:

  • Synekism v0.1.2.14
  • DirectX Redistributable
  • Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable
  • GPU-Z.0.4.6.exe (to check DirectX support - removed after installation is finished/aborted)

New Features and Changes:

  • when clicking while your current road/lot creation is invalid you no longer loose your creation (so nothing happens)
  • we added a Toggle-Fullscreen button at the top-right corner of the window (in addition to Alt-Enter which has always worked)
  • increased initial funds to 4000
  • balance and simulation changes which are not specific enough to describe and mostly involve back-end changes
  • you can now add a custom texture to the terrain by adding an image file named UserTerrainTexture.(jpg, gif, bmp, png) in (Program Files)/Synekism/Mods

Bugs Fixed:

  • the User Interface would appear blurry if the size of the window (either width or height) was odd - this was fixed by forcing even width and height
  • the white city border is sharper which should make it more clear where exactly the city limits end
  • fixed some instances of road/lot overlap detection misses
  • single road nodes (intersections) can no longer be placed on top of existing lots
  • new roads completely inside a lot were not counted as road/lot overlaps
  • fixed a minor bug regarding road/node locking when it was not supposed to
  • you can no longer hide the UI (using F5) while in Main Menu or Loading and if it was already hidden it will be unhidden
  • INSTALLER: we now check all video cards installed for one that supports DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0, not just the first one
