Release Notes

v0.5.1.63 - February 9, 2013

UPDATE

This is just a minor update (v0.5.1.63) to address the RCI ratio change from the previous release (v0.5.1.62) which required a bit too much residential compared to commercial and industrial lots. It is still significantly higher than pre-0.5.1 releases but should be more sane now. I also updated the demo city included in the installer to account for the ratio change.

The next real release is still slated for May 1st, 2013.

NEW FEATURES

Core:

  • added support for command line arguments - for details see: http://wiki.synekism.com/wiki/Command_Line
  • added support for Linux (via Wine) - for details see: http://wiki.synekism.com/wiki/Linux_Installation

UI:

  • added city file location tooltips in the city select screen
  • tooltips now display only after a short delay instead of immediately

Engine:

  • enabled multi-sampling by default - if the game runs too slow you can disable it with --disable-multisampling command line argument
  • fixed brightness levels on the buildings in DirectX 9 mode (Windows XP) - they should look like they do in DirectX 10

Simulator:

  • slightly increased the residential ratio over commercial and industrial lots so you need more residential lots than before

Installer:

  • added support for the Windows Games Explorer (in Windows Vista and Windows 7)
  • cleaned up progress indicators
  • added demo city as an optional "Examples" component

BUGS

Fixed:

  • if you had the game on normal speed and then clicked pause the simulation would not actually pause

Known:

  • roads can still be built overlapping each other and become un-deletable - try pressing F2-R to fix
  • some buildings still build outside their lot...
  • sometimes lots refuse to be selected and therefore dezoned or deleted
  • some lots are created very small at the edges of zones
  • Windows XP installer does not add a Start Menu folder for Synekism, despite claiming to do so
  • for large lots the dozer may permanently select a building until the tool is deactivated or something else selected
  • roads may not build properly (only the endpoints) when using angle lock mode (sometimes)
  • zoning along more than one, non-aligned, road segments does not work
  • on some machines, the game will just refuse to work even if they meet the minimum specs (we are working on this one)
  • as we increased slightly our load times Windows might claim that Synekism froze during loading of large cities but please, disregard, and let the game load
