Release Notes

v0.3.3.8 - August 1, 2011

As with the previous month, heavy school load made it difficult to get anything new in the game for the August 2011 release so we just fixed some minor issues.

Now, by September, school will be well over and we should have another major update for you, 0.4. More details will be given later on but essentially the update will finish our still-broken multiplayer feature and introduce a very fancy "screenshot" feature, in addition to other fixes and improvements. That is all I can say for now but basically we wish to do something of significant on Synekism's first birthday.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • Hard drive with at least 50 MB of available space*
  • Support for DirectX 9.0c, Shader Model 2 and 128 MB of graphics memory

* Does not include space requirements of DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable which may be anywhere from 20kb to 500 MB depending on what has already been installed.

What we install:

  • Synekism v0.3.3.8
  • DirectX Redistributable
  • Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable
  • GPU-Z.0.5.4.exe (to check DirectX support - removed after installation is finished/aborted)

NEW FEATURES:

Minor:

  • added more crash-handles throughout the code; still, please let us know if you encounter any crashes

BUGS FIXED:

  • sometimes, a large double-negative number would display as the cost for zoning
  • the money cheat would not work if the balance was already well in the red
  • the overview checkbox in the settings menu would not uncheck if overview mode was turned off using double-click-focus
  • road maintenance costs did not account for city roads that were a continuation of a regional road
  • road maintenance costs did not reset when a new city was loaded

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • zoning along more than one, non-aligned, road segment does not work
  • zoning very sharp-angled lots can cause them to overlap the road
  • if the angle lock option is on you cannot create regional roads
  • any DirectX problems will cause the game to give a fatal error and quit (mostly during loading)
